Logging on interactively

We have been trying for months to get TS up and running. Some staff members can log on no problem. However, when others try the error message "The local policy of this system does not permit you to log in interactively." When it says "this system" is it talking about the server or the computer trying to dial in? I've checked user profiles and everything looks identical. At no time have we come close to maxing out our total number of users (never had more than one user logged in at a time, and we are allowed 5).

Hi Rob

On the Properties of the user on trying to dial in on the sever on
Terminal Service Tab do you have allow long to Terminal Service tick off and
on the dial in tab do you have Remote Accesss Permission ( Dial in or VPN )
tick off

Hi Lucky,

I checked if both were ticked. All users were "allowed to log in remotely" on the Terminal Services (TS) profile tab. When I checked the dial-in/VPN none of them were selected (all deny access). Not sure what this toggle does, as I am able to log in no problem, and my profile was set to "deny access". I have gone through and allowed access to a few users to see if that would help. No dice.

When I log on with my XP (home) machine as myself, no problem. When I try to log in as another staff member I get the "can't log on interactively" error. Also, when those staff members try to log on from their machines at home they get the same error message.

What am I missing???

A bit of both. Yes I'm an admin. Most of the users are regular users, in a group called office. However, the plot thickens. Some of the users from the "office" group can access the server via TS

Any thoughts?

Sadly no. I wish it were that easy. At first I thought this was a licensing issue. IT appeared that our licenses were not behaving as con-current licenses should. I talked with MS licensing and reinstalled the licenses, twice. Still no dice. What does the error message mean? What is logging on interactively?

One outher thing when the users are finished there session do they logout or
do the just disconnect beause if thay just disconnect then the sever keeps
them logon and you mite be maxing out this way
