logging into domain

is it possible to log into a domain through command line (after logged into
Windows)? we have remote users (using Windows2000) who are logging into the
local machine and the connecting to our corporate network through a
VPN...once connected to the VPN, i have them issuing net use commands to map
drives. is it possible to log into a domain so that they can access all
network resources on the domain without having to validate against each
server they need access to. thanks for any help!

You can log them into the domain using cached credentials while off the
network. That way you do not have to do anything when you connect the VPN.

Hi Sunish,
If the systems the users are logging on the domain with have been
previously joined to the domain, then have the user use the "Logon Using
Dial Up Connection" Checkbox when they log on the computer. If the VPN
connection is be created using Microsoft DUN then it will give you this
option. There are also some 3rd Party Dial Up's that will allow you to
choose there connection when using this option.

The bottom line is, if the system account does not log on the domain, logon
scripts will not run on Windows NT based systems.

If the users systems were not are not part of the domain, you can join them
throught VPN connection, have the reboot, and the use the option listed
above.

Thank you,
Alan Wood[MS]
