Logging in using the Welcome Screen

Test Man

Hi.
I have a problem. Sometimes with my machine, I try to log into my account
(which is the 1st account created when the machine was first started after I
bought it) and it just "hangs". Sometimes it plays the Windows XP Start
wave file and sometims it doesn't but it just sits there at "Loading
Personal Settings". The way round it seems to be to log into the 2nd
account created, then press Win+L to go back to the Welcome Screen and log
in my account again (after switching the machine off then on again).
This behaviour is seemingly random, although it's doing it more these
days.

Machine is:

Dell P4 3.06GHz with HT(8 kilobyte primary memory cache, 512 kilobyte
secondary memory cache)
Windows XP with Service Pack 2 (although it was doing it with Service Pack 1
too)
120GB Hard Drive
512MB RAM
Samsung DVD/CDRW combo drive
Liteon CDRW drive

You may have to junk those accounts (identities - whatever you call them)
and start fresh with a new account. Personally, I never have set up any of
my machines with multiple accounts or passwords so I don't have these
problems. I've been using computers for years and have never once had to
"logon" to a machine.
