Log On To Windows screen

I have WinXP Pro and seems, prior to last 6 months or so,
that when I booted up, I didn't get the Log On To Windows
dialog box which requires me to hit enter to continue
opening Windows.

This is my laptop and I'm the only user, so I'm the
Administrator; I have Guest turned off.

Seems that before, the system just booted up bypassing
this Log On To Windows screen.

Any suggestions?

Start/Run
Type "control userpasswords2" ENTER
Uncheck the box "Users must enter..."
Click OK and follow prompts.
