How can I disable the "Log on to Windows" dialog box
during boot? This never appeared before... but now when
I boot up, I get this windows asking for User Name and
Password

What version of Windows is it? You should be able to just enter a name in the Username field and hit Return a couple of times, that should be it.

XP Professional.. just wondering if there is a way to
prevent this box from appearing and slowing down boot up

To be honest, I'm not 100% sure, I'd have to check but can't get back to until tomorrow.... you can try looking under USERS in Control Panel and seeing if there's any options under Accounts or how user's log on...... I know this can be done in Windows 2000 but XP is a bit different.

Click Start, Run and enter CONTROL USERPASSWORDS2 Highlight the username you want automatically logged on. Uncheck Users must enter a username and password........... click Apply. In the next dialog, enter the password, if any, for the account you selected in the earlier step.
