My daughter has a machine with W2K professional. I want
to set the machine so she can only log on (or at least
surf the net) during certain hours. How do I do this?

You can use the net user command to configure logon times for a local user as
described in link below. However, I do not think it will kick a user off if they
are already logged on and their user time limits are up. If you are using
cable/dsl, many [if not all these days] of the even cheap nat/routers can limit
access time to the internet for all users or by the ip address of the computer,
which would need to be static to be useful. Another alternative is one of the
personal firewalls. Some can enforce rules on a schedule and some such as
PortsLock can different settings per user. --- Steve

ones, free for personal use.

My quick guess.
In local security policy there is a setting: Automatically
log off users when login time exipres. If login times are
set, this might do. (previous reply might be right and if
logged in it will not logout user)
