Log on Problems (System settings take forever)

Using Windows XP home edition. 4 users each with a log on
icon. Until recently logging on was quick 10 seconds or
so. Now when anyone has logged off and wants to log back
on it takes forever. It just shows the "loading system
settings and takes 3-4 minutes. No matter which account.
If the users don't log off and clicks to go back in there
is no issue.
Any idea why all of a sudden Loading the personal
settings would take a ridiculous amount of time?

I am having the same problem. I have looked everywhere
on the Microsoft website for a solution but cannot find
one. Isn't there anyone reading this that can help?
