On the initial log in screen, my user name indicates I have a number of email unread messages in my accounts. 1) How do I turn off this feature 2) I cannot find these unread emails. Thanks in advance

Hi Mike

You can download TweakUI from
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/downloads/powertoys.asp and when
installed go to Programs>Powertoys for Windows XP>Tweak UI - then go to
Logon>Unread Mail - disable it in the right hand pane.

Hi

This is a work around and not a fix

Go to start, run, type in gpedit.ms
once in go to computer configuration, administrative templates, system, logon, in there enable "Always use classic logon" you'll have the windows 2000 style logon

Thanks Will, the rest of the story is that when I load Windows XP SP1, I lose my internet connection. I sent a message to the newsgroup for that problem as well. Once I overcome that, either with a patch or a hardware fix, I will try to download the power tools. At this time I get an error that states "GetDllDirectoryW could not be located in the dynamic link library KERNEL32.dll". The instructions state I m ust have SP1 installed to use that feature. Do you have a fix for my internet connection problems so that I can take advantage of power tweaks? Once again, thanks for your hel
