Greetings,

When I join a Windows XP Pro Workstation to a Windows
2000 Domain, the workstations lockup when you try to
browse the network shares in the explorer or if you leave
the workstaion idle for a few minutes. There is nothing
in the event log to tell what is happening or causing
this. If I remove those same workstations from the
doamin and just run them as members of a workgroup they
run fine. If anyone has any ideas about this or can
point me in the right direction, I would surely
appreciate it.

Thanking you in advance,

Tom McErlane

Check the ipconfig/all. Does everything point to the server-IP? How many
nics in the server?
Got options 003, 006 and 015 set in DHCP-server, Scope options?

Marina,

Thank you for your help. I think I may have had the
network suffix wrong. My internal network is .net and I
had the suffix set at .com for my external network. Also
I switched my preferred and secondary DNS addresses in
DHCP so it would resolve with an internal DNS server
instead of the external one. I rejoined my workstation
back to the domain this afternoon and didn't have the same
problems. I guess i'll know better on Monday after I
leave it sit idle for an hour or so.

Again THANK YOU very much for all your help and pointing
me in the right direction.

Best Regards,

Tom McErlane
