Locking up and Internet explorer opens multiple times from one click

Good Day

I have two problems. The first problem is that my os is locking up then it releases itself. This just started a couple of days ago but now happens often. I cleaned out my internet temp files, cookies and ran the current verison of both ad-aware and my anti-virus program. I do know that dust will screw with any eletronics, so I keep it clean. Below are the specs of my computer and the O/S system

128 ram ( I Know I need more ram, but I been running xp on my system for awhile with no problems
18 gig hard driv
Windows XP pr
BIOS Version 7.0 created 6/1/0
my virtual memory is set at 20
1100 mhz processor AM
It's a gateway system

Second problem I'm having is that my internet explorer opens 60 windows when I click on it. Can anyone please help???????

I would recommend using Spybot-S&D (http://spybot.safer-networking.de/) as well
But if you are sure that there are no viruses and spyware, then check your Event Viewer (Start -> Settings -> Control Panel -> Administrative Tolls - > Event Viewer) for possible errors
