Locked User Profile

I reinstalled windows onto my machine a little while ago and when setting up
the user accounts I used the same user name as before, but this time instead
of assigning this user to the old profile (with all my 'my documents' files)
it made a new one and now the old account/profile doesn't appear in the user
list and I cannot access anything in it it just comes up with the message
"C:\My Documents and Settings\***" Is not accessible. Access Denied.

I am using XP Pro SP2

Please help me

To recover your old files and folders you need to disable
Simple File Sharing and take ownership of the files. Take a
look at these articles for more info:

shared folder in Windows XP

"Access is Denied" Error Message When You Try to Open a Folder

Note: If you are running Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition, you
must start the computer in safe mode, and then log on with an
account that has Administrative rights to have access to the
Security tab. To start in Safe Mode, reboot your computer and
start tapping the F8 key as soon as you see anything displayed
on the screen. Keep hitting F8 until the Advanced Startup
Options menu appears. Use the up and down arrow keys on your
keyboard to select Safe Mode. Hit Enter.

Once you've taken ownership of them, you can copy your old
files into your new user account's folder.

You will have to use a third account which is a computer
administrator in order to copy the files. You can use the
built-in Administrator account or, if you're running XP Home,
create a temporary admin account that can be deleted once the
procedure is completed.

Good luck
