locked selection - someone help me i need to do this coursework

Yesterday my microsoft word went into recovery when it crashed and ever since
then i have not been able to use a fresh page on word because it says
modification not allowed because the selection is locked.. I really need to
do this coursework

My period has not ran out because microsoft was already installed on the
computer when we brought it.

Someone help me!!

Unless you paid extra for the Office software, the software included with
your new PC will be a trial version. It seems likely that the trial has
expired.
