Locked out of database

The actual error message is
"The Microsoft Jet database engine stopped the process because you and
another user are attempting to change the same data at the same time."

The "process" is trying to open the file. Some how it got closed with the
locks still on and now I can't even get in the thing. Is there some tool or
trick to salvage this file or do I have to go to my week old backup?

Look in the directory where the database housing the data is located and
see if you have your file MYNAME.DBF and a second file MYNAME.LDB. If so
delete that LDB file. Hope that works for you.
