I have forgotten my password and can't get logged onto my computer.

YES!

The password I thought was mine, does not work! The hint I installed does
not help
i have typed in 20 different combinations and still can't get logged on.
I am the administrator and really don't know how to get past this

Can someone help please

Many thanks

If you have XP Home edition, you will have to first restart the system into Safe Mode (tap & repeat tapping F8 key as soon as pc restarts to get selection choices--- then choose Safe Mode).
Then login with account "Administrator".

I can understand how a person may forget their own phone number if they live
by themselves. You never call because no one is there to pick up the phone.

But, how in the hell can you forget a password that you need to logon to
your computer, each and every time you start it up?

Take the computer back to the person you "stole" it from and ask them.

Hi!
I sympatheze with you. Forgetting password can happen especially after
resetting it after using another password for a long time.
There are utility bootup CD's available that will reset your log-on to
"administrator" and password to "12345". You can search for them. Don't
panic, it's not a big deal.
Otherwise, log on as administrator in safe mode if you are with Windows
XP. Probably you won't be so lucky if you have WIndows 2000.

Thanks maurice

worked a treat

I now have another problem
I boot up the laptop, without the password, and the desktop icons don't show
up for around 3 mins!!!!

Any ideas on theat one

Many Thanks
