I'm locking down a Windows 2003 server that has to be used as an actual
workstation for a plant automation system. In order to prevent users from
messing about I've locked just about everything down for the operator account.
One issue I've discovered. If you hide the desktop icons via group policy
you enable the ability to double click on the desktop and bring up the start
menu. Since I've already hidden the taskbar, I really don't want the start
menu popping up.
Does anyone out there know how to: a) prevent this behaviour or b) disable
the ability to double-click for a generic mouse. What I have done is set the
time and accuracy settings to their absolute minimum so that discovering this
"feature" by accident is unlikely.
Thanks
