Lock out Guests

I have three new machines I am placing in a public computer room. I want the three machines to be "stand alones" but I need to lock them up so that users cannot install programs (easily done in guest login), but i also need to lock them up so that users cannot save to the hard drives. I want them to only be able to save documents and such on either the zip drives or floppy drives.

So in short............I need to lock 3 computers running xp pro so that users can ONLY SAVE TO ZIP DRIVES AND/OR FLOPPY DRIVES.

thx,
Shrek

sounds like youneed to install software that the guests
can only use with floppies or cd's.

You can use quota management on harddisks to limit disk usage quota for
users.

Right Click C:
Select Quota tab
Enable Quota management
Select default quota limit for new users: your desired limit 0KB
or Assign Quota Entry for a specific users with desired specified quota
limits.

Please note that this will limit all disk usage, inculuding diskspace
required for cacheing when web browsing etc. This can have severe
undesirable sideeffects.

This can be very frustrating for users as well. Since it is much more faster
and convenient tosave temporary documents on hard disk than floppies or zip
drive. Word for example makes temporary files containing undoable history of
documents being edited.

The best way to achieve what you want is to educate users to do what you
want them to do. Use a card board sign besides the computers: "Data not
saved on floppy/zip drive will be lost."
