hi,
we have a computer(windows xp) and 5 people access
it...all are its administrators....and we have very
important data stored in those folders...we DONOT believe
in one another.
i want a solution....no new softwares like "lock folders"
should be installed...is there any way in windows xp so
that i can hide them(with password requirement).
thanks
kandarpa

There's not really any way to keep the administrators from snooping on one
another. Any solution that uses a password could be defeated by spyware
(like a keystroke logger, maybe) installed by another administrator.

If you're only worried about the admins seeing what others physically left
on the machine, one solution might be to buy one of those little USB drives
that you can plug in when you're using it, then carry on your keychain when
you're not.

Any Administrator of a machine can take ownership of files and folders in XP. There is no way to prevent this, without the use of 3rd party software.

Kandarpa-Hi, the ORGINAL Adminstrator (1st one) is asked
by the system if they would wish to hide their files so
that their files, password, secret question and etc. is
not revealed to anyone else coming onto the computer.
Were you the 1st to sign in? Bye 4 (e-mail address removed)

This does not matter, Crystal. Any Administrator can take ownership of files and folders on the system. This can be changed in the Group Policy Editor (GPEDIT.MSC).
