Location of .tmp files in Excel

Excel is saving the .tmp files in "My Documents"
folder when it should be in the windows temp folder.
How do I change this?
 
I've never seen excel save a file with a .tmp extension (well, unless I
specified it with a File|SaveAs).

Are you sure it's excel and not your antivirus program?

(Excel will create a temporary file (8 characters--no extension) that it uses
when it saves a file, though.)
 
I trust that you can see the extension and report back what you see. But are
you sure it's excel creating them--not your antivirus program (for instance)????
