localization... how?

Hi,
i've been looking the documentation about localization.
I just need to have different strings depending on the locale, don't need to
design forms to resize labels.

i have 2 questions:

1. It's weird that it's not possible to have one file for all the
languages... the best thing should be having a table with the first column
for the neutral culture, and one column for each language... if i add a
label i have to edit ALL the files... that can lead to errors and i am
worried to leave out something... if i have a big table it's easier.
2. as far as i know is not possible to compile directly in one language...
having app_en.exe app_fr.exe app_de.exe... or am i missing some
functionality?

regards,
Matteo Cima.

hi

i discover similar far 2 hard 2 handle problems with
multilingual applications. it seems 2 me than ms does not
be aware than in country's like switzerland we develop
mostly in english but we distribute in german french
italian and english. so even just 2 recompile 4 every
language as well as adjusting all the text what's not
standard in the setup file is a bugger. i agree 2 what u
suggest. just one resource file with all languages and
while looking at the systems language the os should just
choose for the user.

i helped myself in this ways than i store a resource file
myself with the language id number as column head in a
database and did get rid of this ms way.

well all this is no help 2 u but at lest u c others thing
same.

cheers kurt

Yes, but having a db always open just for localization... doesn't this
introduce a lot of overhead? I am fighting with low memory issues... !

thanks, i'll try to implement your solution!

regards,
Matteo.
