Local Profile

I "accidentally" deleted my Local Profile. Now my system acts strangely.
Example: I double-click a folder to open it but it opens Search instead; when
I download and save a file, it asks if I want to Run or Open Folder. I click
Open Folder and it opens Search!
I understand the Local Profile is created the first time a user logs on.
Can I get back to that point without having to re-install Windows XP?
Thanks for any help.

Try a System Restore to before you deleted the folder.

Rick, you're a life saver. Your suggestion worked perfectly.
Thanks from a fellow nut,

My folder problem was solved thanks to Rick.
Now I've discovered another problem. Because I don't have a "Local Profile"
on my system, I guess I'm logging on as a "Temp" user and my settings all
disappear when I log off. As an example, every time I log on to the system,
I must turn on Windows Firewall.
Is there a way to save my settings when I log out of Windows?
