Local Network not being recognized.

My client has a network (4 computers) – not wireless. It is what he calls a
peer-to-peer network. There is no server. My application is on the D drive of
one computer. I access it by going to My Network Places and clicking on that
location and navigating to the shared folder. This can also be done from
another computer.

It used to be able to be done on all 4 computers. Inexplicably 2 of the
computers have changed. When you click on My Network Places, an “Internetâ€
heading comes up. This change also appeared on the original machine for one
session and then righted itself. Is there anything I can do to remedy this
situation. It would really help them and me because they are a non-profit
local TV station. While they know lots about movies and audio and TV, they
lack the networking piece.

Any ideas gratefully appreciated.

I fell your pain but you did not provided any information about the OS'
involved and what the change of computers entails Network wise.

Thank you for your help. So sorry. I did a copy and paste of one section of a
post and neglected to check if all of the i's were dotted and the t's crossed.

All computers are using Windows XP Pro. Cannot swear to updates as they seem
to frown on Housekeeping duties...

Thank you for your help. I will read up on the links that you gave me. I
guess what surprises me is that they all swear that settings are suppose to
be automatically detected as it is what they term "peer to peer". The other
surprise was when the computer I was working on jumped to not performing
correctly back to being compliant. I have tried turning machines off and then
restarting.

I will let you know how I fare.
