Can anyone help...
i have win XP on my home PC.Iam the administrator on the
machine. My 2 brothers also use the machine.
i want to allow them access to install software/hardware
onto the PC but not have rights to view my personal files
and folders...

Does anyone know if there's a way to prevent them from
seeing my documents but giving them partial admin
rights...?

Please can someone help...?

Many Thanks

Convert the machine to NTFS and set your permissions.
It would help if you told us if this was XP home or XP
Pro.

It is already NTFS on Windows XP PRO.

I have already set the permissions to myself as the
administrator, and everyone else to Power Users.

So I guess the task in hand is how to allow power users
to install software onto the machine...

they don't have to stay as power users, but I just want
my files to be kept private from everyone...

Thanks for your help so far...

hope you can be of further assistance...

Many Thanks

James

XP PRO: In Windows Explorer, go to Tools, Folder Options, View and uncheck Use Simple File Sharing. Now, when you right click on a drive, folder or file (on an NTFS partition) and select Properties, you'll see a Security tab. Here you can assign or deny permissions based on user name or user group membership.
