I have a WIN 2K Server that is a member of a domain. it's not a PDC. It runs
sql 2000 and i noticed that it stays logged into itself, instead of the
domain.

I back it up to tape each night with veritas and wanted to know how does the
domain see this server if it's not logged into the domain?

Not sure what you mean by "stays logged in..." ??

Nobody needs to be logged into a server at all in order for clients/servers
to access resources on it.

I'm also presuming you're using the Veritas remote agent on this server for
backups (required in BE 9x)

What I mean is on the login screen, instead of choosing the domain in the
drop-down, we choose THIS COMPUTER and login with local administrator
account. I don't understand how the domain sees this server if it's logged
into like this.

you are correct about veritas remote agent.

You can connect to computers on the same network (but a different
domain/workgroup) as long as you have sufficient credentials on box
you are connecting to.

The other computers see this server because it's on the network, & can
access resources on it without anyone being logged in. It's a member server,
so the domain credentials work across the network easily.
