Local folders gone

Hello, I'm quite new in Vista.
In Windows mail the local folders in the left part of the screen are totally
gone.
Can anyone tell me how I can get them back.
Most commands in the menubar are greyed out. Very spooky.
Can I otherwise reinstall WindowsMail and how must I do this?

Go to View, Layout, make sure "Folder List" is checked.
