Loading XP error

I am trying to load XP onto a Thinkpad 240. I get an error message F9FF58h
and the load process aborts. Can anyone tell me what the message might mean?

You'll probably need to do it in Safe Mode and/or set the BIOS to boot
from the CD-Rom.
