The driver for my Brother 1440 printer is available on line. I have
downloaded it and unzipped the files to the designated location. After
unzipping the files, nothing happens. The files appear at the designated
location, but there is no further program or instruction to utilize the
unzipped files. As it stands, I cannot use the Brother printer because the
proper driver is not installed.

When I use the Add Printer feature, select the proper printer, the
information says that the printer driver that Windows has is not compatible
with XP Home.

Please help me load the unzipped files for the Brother 1440 printer driver.
Thank you

Go to the Add Printer icon. When you get asked "should Windows automatically
locate the driver" click "No". Then navigate to the folder you unzipped the
Printer file to. It's as easy as that.

Thanks, Gordon. At the same time your reply arrived, instructions arrived
from Brother to the same question which I had submitted to them yesterday.
Thanks much for your help.
