lmhosts?

I tried to add a new entry to the lmhosts.sam file tonight which I
believe is the correct name for XP? Doesn't recognise the new host I
put in there so what am I doing wrong please?

LMHosts.SAM is a sample file and is NOT interpreted !

The LanManager Hosts file is ...
%windir%\system32\drivers\etc\lmhosts { no extension ! }
