list files and folders alphabetically

Hi, I'm using FP 2002. When i want to open a file or folder and I use
file/open, the displayed list used to be in alphabetical order - now it
appears just random (and is probably actually in chronological order). A
right-click doesn't bring up a "view" dialogue box (as it does in word). I
have a few hundred webpages on the site and I need an alphabetic listing so I
can locate a page. How do I get back to me alphabetical order?

On the Open File dialogue there is an icon labelled "Views" (its
there in FP2000 and FP2003)
Open this and choose Details
Click on the column header for Name to sort by Name
Change the view to suit your method of working.

Hi Thanks for the reply but it doesn't apply to FP2002 (which is what I'm
using) so I still can't easily select a page. Regards, Ray

It's there on my copy of 2002.

If the site is on your PC, use Windows Explorer to browse to the
folder, switch to details view and click on the column header. The
change may be reflected in the FrontPage browse dialogues.
The Views icon should be present in the top row of the browse
dialogue - see www.rxs-enterprises.org/tests/views/views.htm for a
screen shot from FP2003 - FP2000 is similar, and from memory there is
little difference in FP2002. (NOTE - page uses VML, so IE5.5 or later
is required to view.)

Off Topic - This is a demonstration of why VML graphics should be
avoided in web sites. Although the option to use down-level .gif was
selected (the .gif looks terrible) it was not uploaded with the page
when using selective publishing - and it cannot be uploaded using
selective publishing because the views_files folder containing the
image is super hidden in FrontPage.

Hi Ronx - Thanks for your help - it's now OK and makes finding a file 1,000%
easier. Regards, Ray
