Linux IGD?

G

Guest

I setup my remote Desktop on my primary desktop computer (XP Pro), connect to
it via my laptop (XP Home) with my wireless network. Each time a connect via
Remote Desktop, a Linux IGD Local Area Connection is created.

My problem is that when I disconnect from the primary desktop, the Linux IGD
does not deacitivate. I can reboot, yet once I turn on my wireless
connection on my laptop, connect to my network, the Linux IGD connection
re-establishes itself. Once that Linux IGD connection is established, I
cannot get on the internet from my laptop. I can still view and access
internal network devices, re-establish the remote desktop connection, I just
can't get past the DSL modem.

I have tried to disable/delete the Linux IGD connection, but I can't do
anything with it, I am always denied access.

How can I get back on the internet, yet retain my Remote Desktop abilities,
and why is Linux overtaking my Microsoft Windows system?

Thanks for any assistance anyone can provide,

Dan

hi Dan,

Hope this will help.

LINUX IGD gateway service will redirect your packets into somethin
else,In short... YOU CANNOT PING OUTSIDE THE MODEM. You can ping you
modem OK but you cannot ping outside. Even though your DNS, GATEWAY, I
ADDRESSES are indeed correct.

Solution:

There are two ways to get rid of the LINUX IGD once and for all.

First is by hard resetting your modem. If you are using an actionte
modem then you have to push the reset button at the back of your MODE
hold it for 20secs then unplug the power cord of the modem whil
pressing the reset... then quickly plug it in back again then releas
the press. Be sure that you know your connection type (PPPoA - PPPoE
and be sure that have your credentials are with you (PPP username an
PPP password) so you can re-configure your actiontec again.

Second is by going to start > control panel > add/remove programs
add/remove windows component
Scroll down a little bit and high-light networking services then clic
DETAILS then uncheck the Internet Gateway (Linux IGD). It will be gon
forever... finally you can breathe.

Do not call you ISP, Telephone Company or Modem Manufacturer about thi
one because even though they know how to disable it they will neve
support you on this one because it’s an OEM issue.

If have additional questions about ADSL connection, Qwest, Actionte
Modems, 2wire 2700HG, Arescom 800, DSL 1000 and MSN software and MS
accounts. drop me a mail then we'll give it a shot
