Linksys WRT54G HELP!

B

B. Case

OK guru's... Gotta problem that I know someone can help me with. (please?)

Here's the deal -- The system is a HP Pavillion ZD7000 which has a wireless
access card already installed inside the notebook. The system is currently
configured to a high-speed cable connection with a Linksys 2.5 GHz WRT54G
wireless router. I want to configure that system to a DSL connection (which
is already active). This is the only computer inside the house.

I disconnected the router and reconnected it to the laptop and it doesn't
work at all. I was hoping WinXP would somehow automatically identify with
the changed setup, but it didn't. I've tried accessing the router via
192.168.1.1, but I don't get a thing, when I did before (when it was
connected to cable). I know I need to re-configure the router (and maybe
the computer's adapter?) but I'm not sure why I'm unable to do either. I
don't see anything in the network connection's setup to change from a CABLE
to DSL, etc. According to the system tray, the wireless card does appear to
be working properly and the computer itself is only months old.

Any help would be appreciated. When I try to access the router's
configuration page, I am told that the system can't find it. I was told by
Linksys that the router is both DSL/Cable compatible, so there shouldn't be
a
problem on that end. What else do I have to do?

Thanks in advance!
