Installing linksys wmp54g wireless PCI adapter is not
working on one of my XP machines. System freezes
frequently during boot, and when it eventually boots it
sees no wireless network. Tried latest drivers and
windows updates w/ no luck. Anyone experience problems
with these cards in XP before? AOpen AX63Pro MB w/ a via
chipset, XP Pro... Thanks!

I am having similar problem. I had system with Win 2K
Pro on it. Card worked fine with the LinkSYS WLAN
Monitor app running. I upgraded to XP Pro SP1 and still
worked just fine.

I then installed latest XP Service Packs and now I am
unable to connect to my wireless network and the choices
for Advanced Options where I would normally change the
WEP Security settings is now not highlighted.

I went to the MS KnowledgeBase and found an article to
download a new device driver for XP WEP to WPA mod.

This still didn't work. I am still unable to connect to
networks. The card shows as being fine and working
properly, but I am unable to connect to the AP since I am
unable to see the network or change the settings.

I had a similar problem on 2 of my 3 machines. To solve
it I simply removed the screw that holds the card in place
in the case. It appears that the mounting plate is not
formed quite right and tightening the screw down causes
the card to get unseated from the motherboard.

Hope this helps.
