Linksys VPN and win2k DFS root

Hi

I can successfully connected to a Linksys BEFVP41 VPN
router and work with mapped directories and printers.
However, I am having problems with the Distributed File
System Root share.

I can view the sub-tree folders for the DFS root, but if I
go into one of the sub-tree folders, it does not list any
sub folders or files.

I checked the status of my DFS links at work on the win2k
server and they are all fine. I can access the sub-folders
at work from my computer just fine too.

I even tried creating a VPNuser group in active directory
at work, adding myself to it, and giving the VPNuser group
full control over the DFS root share.

Any suggestions as to why I cannot see any sub folers or
files under my DFS root share from my VPN connection?

Thanks
Wayne

I added the ip address of the server with the shares to
the remote computer's WINS tab, as well as added the
server's ip to its own WINS tab.

Works great now. I'll look into finding some info on why
DFS uses WINS. I thought WINS was just the old method of
handling DNS info. I didn't think it would affect the
usage of DFS.

Thanks!

Its not that DFS requires WINS... When you connect to a DFS share, it
redirects your computer to the actual share name transparently..
However, if your computer cannot resolve the name, it won't connect.
Making sure an internal DNS server is listed/active should also
work...
