linksys print server PSUS4 compatibility list

Jenny

Hi,

I just got off the phone with a nice lady from liksys tech support
(in the phillipeans! that's what 24-hour tech support means!). After
going through the usual turn everything off, check the settings,
restart, etc., she checked her compatibility database to find that my
printer wouldn't work with the print sever. I actually bought 3 of
these print servers for some other USB printers, and I told her so.
She took the other printer models and checked them against the
compatiblity database to find that another one wouldn't work, and the
last one wasn't in the database.

What I'm wondering is, can I get access to this database? Or is
there a database maintained somewhere of printers which work with
different print servers? I'd rather not waste my time with a piece
of network hardware if it isn't going to work! Looks like I'll have
to pay a restocking fee on the return, and hunt around for something
which will work...

BTW, my printers are:
Lexmark X83
HP PSC 1350xi
HP Officejet K80xi

The print server I tried to use was the PSUS4 - USB print server with
4 port switch.

Thanks.

Knowing that the PSUS4 is not compatible will all USB printers, I submitted
a request to Linksys via their web site to see if it were compatible with
the Canon i455. Here' s the reply.

The Question: I have read (and yourown literature confirms) that this
print server is not compatable with all USB printers. I want to check this
before I buy.

Is the PSUS4 compatable with the Canon i455 Printer?

Thanks

Dear Valued Linksys Customer,

Thank you for contacting Linksys Technical Support.

Unfortunately the printer model Canon i455 is not yet tested to work with
the printserver. There is a possibility that it may work but we cannot give
you a guarantee. The only test that you may do to see if it will work is to
connect the printer to the server and presssing the reset of the server for
about 10 seconds. If the printer prints the configuration of the server it
means they would work.

Thank you and Have a nice day!
