Links gone from IE favourites

Hi, My links folder in IE's favourites has misteriously been emptied! I am
running xp pro sp2, no system changes / updates have occured for a couple of
weeks, i have 4 user accounts this has happened on two accounts.
I redirected my favs to reside on a different (document) partition months
ago, have never had a problem like this - the folder links is empty - i have
checked properties nothing hidden etc.
I run Norton internet security 2005, and have a well bolted down system,
also go through a router to access the net with NAT - if iit wasnt for this
i would assume virus/hack.
Any suggestions please?

ps none of my other favourites or folders are missing.
