links from a powerpoint file to another

In order to create two different versions of a powerpoint presentation,
I would like to link an object from a powerpoint file to another an
other powerpoint file. All what I obtain is an hypertext line instead of
the image or real text I want.
Has someone a solution ?

Insert a graphic or add a PPT autoshape that will be your linking icon.
Select the icon.
Go to SLIDE SHOW >> ACTION SETTINGS
Click HYPERLINK TO
In the dropdown window choose OTHER POWERPOINT PRESENTATION
Browse to the needed presentation and all should work.
