Linking to and opening an archive file

Not using Front Page, yet I am accustomed to using this forum and thought
someone may be able to assist.

I am creating a simple internal page on a shared drive that will be opened
in IE. The purpose of this page is to link to various project files, which
are all in the same shared folder. My problem is with linking to and opening
an archive file, in this case a ‘.zip’ file created with Jzip (my default
compaction software).

When clicking on the .zip file link, the files within the .zip file are
unpacked and listed in the IE window. My intent is to have these files
remain within the .zip folder and utilize the folder hierarchy (available
using Jzip), which is meant to aid the user.

Any suggestions how I force IE to open the linked .zip file using our
default compaction software (Jzip).

Thank you for any advice.

Browsers (including IE) will normally present a download dialogue for
..zip files and not open them at all. If your copy of IE is opening the
zip file, then you have a "helper" application installed to open the
zips - possibly Jzip.

I suggest you repost the question where the experts are - either in a
forum for Jzip or for Internet Explorer. This Forum, as you already
know, is for questions regarding FrontPage.

XP's zip tool already gives you that option to extract into same folder.
