Linking Text Boxes vs. newspaper columns

I see that you can link text boxes to have the text flow from the first box
to the second.

When would I use newspaper columns and when would I link text boxes?

Thank you.

Columns are *much* easier to deal with and can be very flexible. Use linked
text boxes only when you want text to flow from one page to another in a
nonsequential fashion (as in newspapers, where a front page story "jumps" to
a back page, where it is continued).
