Linking excel worksheet with word file and I don't want the format changes to transfer to the owrd d

I know how to create a link betwen an excel worksheet and a word file. But once I have the link set up I adjust the excel chart to fit into my word document but then when changes are made to the excel worksheet and it's updated then the format changes also. Is there a way to have the text only updated?

Adjust the chart in Excel so that you don't have to adjust it in Word.
