Linked to Locked File?

I know I can't import or create a link to a file when it's locked by another
user. However, once I create a link (when it's not locked), will I be able
to get in or a will I get lock error if if the file is locked? Thanks!

You can link to a file, even if another user is linked to it. You may not
update a reord or page that another user has locked for editing, but the
moment he or she is out of that record, you are free to edit. Only in rare
circumstances is it necessary to lock an entire table in a database. That is
usually when you are doing an update of all the records.
