Linked Tables on a Network

Keith

I have a database which has links to and from other databases and
spreadsheets. I have 4 linked tables from spreadsheets on a server which I
see as drive 'H' however I have colleagues in other parts of the country who
need to update this database from the linked spreadsheets who see this drive
as 'K', I have got round this problem with spreadsheets by using the UNC
address, however when I create a linked table in access I do not have the
choice to change the local address 'H/Sales/' etc to the UNC address, even
when going into 'change location' option. Has any one else had the same
problem and found a workaround.

Thanks in advance.

To link using a UNC using the linked table manager, navigate to the database
through My Network Places (or Network Places, or whatever it's called in
your operating system), rather than navigating via the linked drive.

That having been said though, you're not going to be able to use the
database with "colleagues in other parts of the country": Access is not
intended to be used over a WAN. You might want to read what Albert Kallal
has to say about using Access over the WAN at
