I have an Excel 2003 spreadheet. The 1st three rows are headers. I can do a
link in Access of this spreadsheet but when I open it from Access instead of
seeing the header rows I see #num! in the header row as well as within the
data cells where I had no numberical number, just a dash.

I thought the linked Excel spreadsheet just opens up as is, with no
formatting issues.

Please advise

Access does not know you are using three rows as header. That is controlled
in your Excel page setup. Access can only use the first row as field names.

Try editing your first row to include the data from the other rows and
separating by using ALT-ENTER to set new line in the same cell.

Open the spreadsheet and create a named range for the data area. Then use
that range when linking.
