Linked File Displayed as an Icon

Using the Insert/Object command, I have inserted a linked
file and have selected the Display as Icon option.
However, when I run the slide show and click on the
linked file icon, the show advances to the next slide. I
cannot get the linked file to display. What am I doing
wrong? I'm using PowerPoint 2002.
 
Louise,
Right-click on that icon.
Select Action Settings and set an object action.
Then during slide show you can click on the shape and perform the desired
action.
