Inserting an object that works like a hyperlink

Hello!

I am trying to find out if there is anyway to insert an object (namely an
embedded Word Doc) that, when in slide show view, will work like a hyperlink
does. Just in case I'm not clear...I inserted a Word Doc into PPT and asked
that it also show the Word Doc icon. When I go to slide show view and click
on that icon, nothing happens. In order for me to open this doc, I have to
exit slide show view, double click on the icon, and then it'll open. Is there
anyway to open in while in slide show view...just like I would if I had
inserted a hyperlink?

It's actually done with an animation.

1. Open the custom animation pane, then select the Word doc icon on the
slide.

2. Click Add Effect | Object Actions | Open (or Edit, I don't think it
matters which)

Then make it a triggered animation, so it opens when you click the icon
specifically (as opposed to a random mouse click). To do that...

3. Right-click the object action animation in the animation pane and choose
Effect Options.

4. On the Timing tab, choose Triggers.

5. In Start Effect on Click Of, choose the Word doc.

I'll save the tip anyway.

You can do this in 2003 also. Use the ... mmm, I think it's the Slide Show
menu, then Action Settings.
