Linked Excel File

Access 2000. I have multiple database applications that access the same
linked Excel file (read only). Problem is Access has the Excel file marked
as "exclusive use", so the Access apps cannot run concurrently. How can I
define that linked file so multiple Access apps can use the linked file
concurrently?

This may be a bit of a kludge (and may not work), but what about the idea of
referring to that Excel file from only ONE MS Access database, then
referring to that Access db from all the others?

Good luck!

Jeff,

Thanks for the prompt reply. Unfortunately, that won't work. The two
database apps have distinctly different structures and purposes. The linked
Excel file is not huge, so I can always import it, as a last resort. I am
just trying to use it as a linked file, if possible.

Perhaps someone else has a solution.

I was not suggesting linking to ALL of DB1's tables, but just to that single
(already linked) Excel file/table from your DB2, DB3, etc...
