link whithin Hotmail acts up

When clicking on an embedded link within a Hotmail email
message the correct site opens within Hotmail but doesn't
allow logging in. It instead redirect to the home page of
that site.

This only happens with IE and Hotmail when trying to
access a site via an IP address of the web server, works
with all other browsers, and also works with IE on
localhost.

Any ideas?
