Link to Word document

Using Word & Outlook 2002 -
What is the easiest way to email someone a link to a Word
document on the same network?

The "Insert Hyperlink" option in Outlook does not contain
a browse button, so adding the path is very time consuming.

The "Send For Review" option in Word is sending an
attachment, not a link.

I can't think of a quick and easy way to do this. Any
suggestions?

Cheers,
Caroline

G'day "Caroline" <[email protected]>,

I normally open the explorer window to that folder, grab the address
from the addy bar, and email that. Or you can right-drag the file and
create a shortcut to it.

Thanks Steve,

Yes, that works fine (unless, of course, your shortcut
ends up as an .lnk file which is blocked by Outlook!!!)
I was hoping there was something even more basic than this
(like one or two clicks) for people who are not very
computer literate, and who send a lot of these links every
day for people to review/print/ammend files etc. (I guess
my hopes were too high!)

I'm thinking I might try to write a macro that would
somehow open an email with the path/filename desired
already in the body. I'm very new to VBA but I've already
made one that does it - but it's a bit messy (it inserts
path/filename field into the document, cuts it, opens new
message and pastes into the body. It's not an active
hyperlink but that is not necessary for my purposes)
Oh well, I guess I'll wait for my macro guru in the office
to get back from holidays! Maybe he has a better idea.

Cheers,
Caroline.
