link message to calendar event

Is there a way to create a Calendar event that links to a selected
e-mail? I don't want to write all the details of the e-mail into the
calendar event and want to just click on the link and have it pop up
the e-mail.

When composing or editing an calendar event, there is no equivalent of
the Outlook 2003 "Insert -> Item" menu?

Yes, there is. However you must change toolbars in 2007. Now I see
how to do it. Thank you.

Outlook 2007 did not adopt the claimed intuitive "ribbon" tab style of
the other Office 2007 components (Word, Excel, etc). Outlook 2007's
interface looks pretty much the same as for Outlook 2003.

Did you perhaps configure OL2007 to not show the Menu bar? While you
can customize the included toolbars and even add your own toolbars with
a custom list of buttons, the Menu bar remains the same.
