Link from Excel to Access Table Not Allowing Data Entry on Form

I have a form whose data source in a local table in a 2003 MS Access
Database. The form has several buttons that changes text and dates in
the form. The user then has the option to export the form to an MS
Excel Spreadsheet that is color coded based on unique identifiers when
changes are made to the table in the form.

The user has requested they would like to open the excel spreadsheet
and have the changes made to the excel spreadsheet be reflected in the
table. I have been able to link the spreadsheet to be a table that
drives the form. When I change the form's "Allow Date Entry" property
to "Yes" the form's fields do not show nor any command buttons.
Anyone have any idea how to work around this or what I'm doing wrong?
