excel/access link

Using office 2007. i have a spreadsheet set up with a different pivotchart
on each sheet. they all refer to the data on the 1st sheet and i want to
create a dynamic link from an access query to that sheet. i am able to
export from excel but this seems to overwrite the whole spreadsheet so would
require another linked workbook to chart the data (and perhaps reconfiging
link each time - not sure). Ulitmately i would like to code this link onto
button on form for users. I use a DateChooser form in dialog mode to get
user dates for the query so needs to be initiated from access.

When i try to import the data from the excel end using the "From Access
Button' on the 'Get External Data' or "Existing Connections' button on
the'Connections' tab I am able to locate the access file but don't see the
query i want in the list. is there a way to publish this query from within
access to make it visible on the list. is there a step i'm missing. are
there some tables and queries that don't show on this list.

i've checked attributes against tables and queries i am able to see but
seems to be no difference. the query is not especially recent (created
9/5/08) and i can see other queries created around the same time. both the
spreadsheet and database files are local but the database is split and its
data is on a network drive. I've double checked i'm accessing the right file
and had others check this also.

is a select query with grouping totals based on another query with date
criteria.

It seems the problem is with the date criteria off the datechooser form. As
soon as i remove this criteria it is available to link.

is the only solution now to link to this and then total and filter in excel
or can you see another way? trying to keep it simple for users. was hoping
to have a dynamic link with date criteria from the access form.
