Link a PDF document to a frontpage website

Hi Everybody,
I'm a beginner at website creation, but I have published a Front Page 2003
website for a non-profit social service organisation. They require that all
printable documents be in PDF format so it is compatable with PC's and Mac's.
I have been trying various ways to load the PDF file, so it will open
correctly and be readable and printable. But they didn't work.
I have linked to image files with frontpage without a problem before but
it is not working with the PDF file. On one attempt the PDF file source code
(not a readable veiw)showed up on the web page, which was unreadable. And I
have used frontpage to link to the PDF file,
and I get a "page can not be displayed" error message when I try to veiw the
file on-line after publishing it.
Also, despite the fact I had frontpage create the link between the webpage
and the PDF file, I keep getting a broken link report when I check the
hyperlinks.
I'm starting to believe that PDF files have a special procedure to use for
creating a link that allows a PDF file to be opened, in a readable &
printable display on a frontpage website. Any feedback will be GREATLY
appreciated!

1. Make sure the all file and folder names are lowercase and without spaces, etc. in the names.

2. Make sure that you import the PDF file into your current open FP web / site, then add your text
or image to your page, then right click on the text or image and select Hyperlink properties, then
browse to the location of the PDF that you imported within the web / site.

Sounds like the correct mime type for PDF documents isn't set on the
Server. Ask your Web Master to fix it.

Thomas,
Thanks for your help. I renamed the PDF. file without spaces, used the
drop and drag method, from the folder list to have FP automatically link to
the renamed PDF file and it worked! It opened on my webspace and was
printable.

I've tried your suggestion, but the pdf file still doesn't come up. I know
its there because I can see it on my FTP files. It just opens another window
and says 'done' at the bottom but no pdf file. I have Acrobat 5.5 and can
create my own pdf file.

Can you provide a URL to page with a link to this PDF file that doesn't load?

Have thought about upgrading your version of Adobe Reader, which is currently 7.0.9 for Windows XP

Loaded OK for me.
I purposely don't update adobe reader. ;-)
You've got an ugly looking bookmark in the document though, and I don't
think it needs to be as large of a file as it is. all in all, it's OK.

I used Foxit Reader to open the document. Saved to my hard drive, and then
opened it in Adobe Acrobat 8.0 and did a Save As to reduce the size. 15KB
down to 12KB.
